Ericsson K700i & Variants

When dismantling any phone, great care should be taken to ensure that no damage is caused to any of the parts. Rough handling may result in severe damage of many parts, and if proper anti-static procedures are not followed, electrostatic damage may result in any electronic component.

Before commencing, it is recommended that the correct tools are purchased for the job in hand - at the very least, you will require a Torx T6 screwdriver..

Step 1. Remove the battery cover and battery.

Step 2. Remove The SIM card.

Step 3. Take note of the four plastic lugs protruding through from the front fascia. Use a plastic shim (and old SIM card is ideal) to press straight down on each of these to disengage the clips from the chassis.

Step 4. With the clips released use a thin plastic shim (not a screwdriver unless you want to destroy the chassis and fascia) to loosen the fascia starting at the base of the handset.

Step 5. With the fascia removed you can see four Torx T6 screws. Remove these and store them safely.

Step 6. Remove the metal shielding.

Step 7. Carefully flip the screen up towards the top of the handset. If you haven't already done so, now is a good time to remove the joystick dome as well.

Step 8. Lift the metal retaining clip on the ZIF sockets retaining the LCD flex and the keyboard flex. Now you can slide each flex away from the socket.

Step 9. In a similar manner remove the two keypad flex's shown below.

Step 10. Now carefully lift the main board and disconnect the camera flex by levering it out of it's socket carefully.

Step 11. With the camera flex disconnected you can simply remove the main board.

Step 12. Remove any remaining parts. The Vibra motor simply lifts out, as does the camera. The loudspeaker is stuck in place with double sided tape that will probably have to be replaced. The side keys are also stuck in place and are a complete nightmare to remove without damaging them. If you must remove them, take care and don't say I didn't warn you when you end up replacing them.

Step 13. Below you can see all the parts (except the side keys) removed along with the aerial cover which simply clips into place and is removed most easily by levering from the inside of the chassis.

Step 14. Same as above, but with the chassis shown from the rear.

Step 15. Reassembly is a simple reversal of the above steps.
